How ZeroNet strengthened its platform without slowing down its users

ZeroNet
"We knew a pentest would find flaws in the system, and that was exactly the point. Instead of fearing the results, we saw this test as the fastest path to improve our product and give our customers total peace of mind."

After successfully clearing its launch stage, ZeroNet — the software firm redefining the Green ITOps ecosystem since its founding in 2024 — has completed a thorough re-engineering of its data-analysis capabilities. With a mature digital ecosystem and a growing base of corporate clients, the company took a strategic turn by evolving from static environmental diagnostics toward the active, automated mitigation of cloud consumption. This lets large corporations drastically lighten the ecological impact of their IT systems through pure software — with no costly sensors or physical hardware — which in turn maximizes energy-cost savings and accelerates their ESG goals.

The challenge

Before joining Secur0's ethical hacking program, ZeroNet had no formal security audits, so protecting its platform relied solely on the good practices of its development team. This lack of external validation left critical risks exposed — both logical and infrastructure-related — that were undetectable by automated internal analysis.

The real challenge was to independently and rigorously assess the system's resilience. ZeroNet needed to proactively uncover any vulnerability that could compromise the confidentiality, integrity or availability of its services, neutralizing threats before they could be exploited by malicious actors.

The solution

The strategy to harden the platform was built around launching a Vulnerability Disclosure Program (VDP) backed by ethical hacking analysts, whose main purpose was to uncover complex security flaws that had gone completely unnoticed by the company's automated tools. This proactive approach made it possible to deeply audit the code and cloud architecture, simulating real attacks to evaluate the software's resilience without disrupting the operations of customers already using the service.

Impact

Thanks to the early detection of these critical weaknesses, ZeroNet was able to neutralize serious threats before they caused real damage, turning those risks into a clear competitive advantage. By fixing the logical flaws in the system's confidentiality, corporate espionage and the leakage of energy-consumption records or operating costs were completely avoided, guaranteeing absolute protection of companies' strategic information.

Likewise, resolving the integrity and impersonation issues in the configuration panels prevented API-key hijacking and the disabling of monitoring alarms, reinforcing customer trust in the platform's stability. Finally, by patching the vulnerability in the diagnostic functions, a possible large-scale digital collapse and the simultaneous failure of multiple organizations' network connections were prevented. As a direct result, ZeroNet not only protected its users' business continuity but also cemented its reputation in the corporate market as a mature, secure technology partner fully aligned with the highest cybersecurity standards.
